The Afropreneur Challenge is now open to all Nigerians in the US or Canada developing innovative solutions or creating business models to solve important problems. The application process is also now streamlined. Apply by October 14, 2024.

What is Afropreneur Challenge?

As part of Platform 2023 and in conjunction with The Afropreneur, we would like to challenge you and offer $10,000 to support your business  ideas. A challenge like no other. The NCNMO-Afropreneur Challenge is an experience designed to stretch your limits and challenge what you think is possible. You’ll get to generate a new idea that could change the world (bi ithnillah), create a business plan, get mentored, and along the way, you’ll work with business specialists, advisors and tech gurus, who will help bring your idea to life. If successful, you’ll get the opportunity to be one of the top teams in the NCNMO-Afropreneur Challenge Finals at Platform 2023 and compete to win a share of $10,000 in seed funding to take your idea to market.

Who is this for?

We are looking for creative people, who can develop an idea and turn it into a business through diligent execution. If that sounds like you, or if it doesn’t but you still think you’ve got something special to offer, then we want to hear from you. Entrepreneurs working on interesting problems and business ideas are invited to indicate interest to participate in this program by completing a simple form online <link>.

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

1. Understanding of the problem
2. Uniqueness of the solution

• Approach to problem solving

1. Traction (user and revenue)
2. Team composition

Who can participate?

Any Nigerian or Nigerian-American can participate. Physical attendance at Platform is preferred but participation online is also allowed. Mentors will provide advisory support and guide entrepreneurs towards completing the business plan template which would be provided by the program team.

Who can win?

Winners will be decided based on the following criteria:

1. Creativity: How original is this product?
2. Potential: What is the longevity, actualization, and profitability of the idea?
3. Functionality: How accessible and effective is this product for its intended users?
4. Team/People: How will your team make your company a success?
5. Impact: What is the product’s potential to be disruptive?
